About Andariya
Andariya is a multidisciplinary platform combining media, research, and cultural programming to uncover suppressed histories, track emerging narratives, and amplify collective memory across politically ruptured regions in Africa and its diaspora.
Objectives of the Role
- Oversees Andariya’s analytical reporting functions, ensuring timely, accurate, and data driven and contextually grounded insights.
- Translates complex, multilingual digital data into clear, actionable reports that support media, advocacy, and humanitarian response.
- Ensures methodological rigor in monitoring processes, analytical consistency across outputs, and high quality reporting that identifies emerging narratives, risks, and opportunities within digital ecosystems.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead the production of high-quality research reports.
- Provide strategic direction for digital data collection across open and closed platforms, ensuring ethical standards, data protection, and contextual sensitivity guide all practices.
- Ensure analytical coherence and oversee internal validation processes to maintain accuracy, consistency, credibility, integrity and methodological rigor.
- Set analytical priorities and frameworks for examining disinformation, hate speech, civic narratives, and trends across digital ecosystems.
- Oversee qualitative analysis to ensure nuanced understanding of tone, intent, framing, and socio-political context.
- Ensure data visualisations translate complex findings into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences, including non-technical stakeholders.
- Refine keyword strategies, thematic taxonomies, and monitoring parameters to maintain relevance to evolving project needs.
- Maintain clear documentation of monitoring methodologies, workflows, and analytical frameworks to support consistency and institutional memory.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of 5-7 years of professional experience in research, media analysis, reporting, or related analytical roles.
- Exceptional report writing, synthesis, and editorial skills, with the ability to translate complex findings into clear, concise, and actionable insights for diverse audiences.
- Experience working on issues related to disinformation, hate speech, conflict, media and civil society, civic discourse, humanitarian response, or digital rights is highly desirable.
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills, with the ability to identify patterns, trends, and emerging narratives in large datasets.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, consistency, and evidence-based reporting.
- Familiarity with digital monitoring, dashboard tools, spreadsheets, and data visualization platforms is an advantage.
- High level of discretion, ethical judgment, and sensitivity when handling complex or high-risk content.
- Commitment to contextual, locally grounded, and ethically responsible analysis.
- Strong project management and deadline management skills.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to coordinate across multidisciplinary teams.
