Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Researcher with expertise in the media sector and a profound understanding of Sudan's political history. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing research projects, conducting fieldwork, gathering data, and performing critical analyses to contribute valuable insights to our organization’s content development. The Researcher will mostly work with fellow research team members, as well as editorial, management and other team members as needed.
Responsibilities:
Field Work:
Design and conduct online and on-the-ground research to gather first-hand information related to media trends and societal dynamics among other issues. Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, contributing to and developing Andariya’s database of stakeholders of relevance to various thematic areas.
Data Collection:
Utilize a variety of research methods to collect relevant data, such as desk reviews, interviews, surveys, and observations. Compile and organize data obtained from diverse sources, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Data Analysis:
Apply advanced data analysis techniques to extract meaningful insights from collected data. Elevate analysis to build robust findings, conclusions, recommendations and other requirements as needed.
Media Sector Expertise:
The ideal Research stays informed about current trends, challenges, and innovations within the media sector, both locally and globally. They have expertise in media-related topics, including journalism practices, media ethics, and technological advancements.
Critical Analysis:
The Researcher will frequently conduct critical analyses of a broad range of research topics utilizing a variety of qualitative and quantitative tools.
Political History Knowledge:
The Researcher will possess a deep understanding of Sudan's political history, including key events, historical figures, and the evolution of political structures.
They will apply historical context to analyze contemporary political developments and their intersection with media dynamics.
Qualifications:
l Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field such as Journalism, Political Science, Media Studies, or a related discipline.
l Proven experience in field and online research, particularly in challenging environments.
l Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets across a variety of topics.
l Knowledge of data analysis tools and methodologies.
l Familiarity with the media landscape in Sudan and a keen interest in political history.
l Excellent English and Arabic communication skills, both written and verbal.
l Ability to work independently, remotely and collaboratively within a team.
